U-2 SPY PLANE SHOT DOWN OVER CUBA, PILOT KILLED
A U-2 spy plane has been shot down over Cuba by an anti-air missile. This is the first act of retaliation by the Cuban government. The pilot, Major Rudolf Anderson, has been killed in the crash. He has been awarded the Distinguished Service Medal. President Kennedy has begun secret negotiations with the Russian Chairman Nikita Khrushchev, and is resisting pressures to invade. Currently no details have been released. As a side note, The quarantine has intercepted another freighter, and has forced the Soviet submarine B-29 now known to be armed with a ten kiloton nuclear missile that could have been launched if all three officers on board agreed to surface and surrender. Luckily one protested.
